Lime Encourages Riders to Shovel Snow for Chicago Senior Citizens, People with Disabilities
With nearly 18 inches of snow blanketing Chicago and more to come this week, Lime is teaming up with local Chicago organization My Block, My Hood, My City to help people in need, including senior citizens and people with disabilities, get their driveways and sidewalks shoveled for free. Lime riders who volunteer will receive 10 free ride credits.
My Block, My Hood, My City is a local Chicago organization that is always willing to step up to help those in need. The M3 Shovel Crew, which gathers volunteers to help clear snow from sidewalks and driveways for senior citizens and persons with disabilities is just one way they serve Chicago communities.
Heavy snow remains in the forecast for Chicago so Lime wants to encourage our riders to volunteer with My Block, My Hood, My City’s Shovel Crew and help shovel snow to reduce mobility hurdles for those in need. Lime riders who complete a volunteer shift will receive a promotional code good for up to 10 free rides of up to 15 minutes each, which can be used on all Lime vehicles including e-scooters and e-bikes, in any city in the United States where Lime operates — and when Chicago's e-scooter program resumes later this year.
“We take care of people, no matter what. We adapt to the needs of the community,” said My Block, My Hood, My City founder Jahmal Cole. “Each winter, our Shovel Crew is there for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and under resourced schools who need help with clearing snow. We are grateful for Lime in helping spread the word and getting their riders involved in this effort.”
“We’re proud to partner with My Block, My Hood, My City and encourage our riders to get involved in their community and help those in need,” said Lee Foley, Director of Government and Community Affairs at Lime. “Even though Chicago’s e-scooter program isn’t currently live, Lime is committed to the Chicago communities we serve. With so much snow hitting the city so quickly, we want our riders to know about opportunities to help their neighbors with My Hood My Block My City.”

Lime encourages its riders to get involved with local organizations through the Lime Action program which partners with dozens of organizations working on issues like safer streets, making transportation and cities more equitable, and fighting climate change. Additionally, Lime’s round-up and donate program, Lime Hero, has raised more than $200,000 for local community organizations.
