Labor Day weekend in the US means college students are heading back to school, and Lime is working to ensure that they’re getting across campus safely starting on day one.
In partnership with universities across the country, local Lime staff are ramping up in-app messages and hosting free First Ride Back to Campus events designed to teach students how to safely operate and park electric scooters.
Confirmed campus events include:
San Diego State University
University of Minnesota
Georgia Southern University
North Carolina State University
San Jose State University
Texas Tech University
University of Utah
UC San Diego
“A new school year brings many opportunities to continue educating students on the importance of safe scooter riding,” said Michael Berl, Global Head of Lime Campus. “By leveraging both Lime’s cutting-edge technology and strong relationships with on-campus communities, we’re working every day to make micromobility a safe, enjoyable addition to all institutes of higher education.”
Lime is also taking specific aim at preventing drinking and riding across the US, with in-app messages that require users to verify they’re “safe to ride” before unlocking an electric scooter.
Lime’s First Ride Back to Campus announcement comes on the heels of its industry-first Micromobility Safety Summit held in San Francisco last month, which introduced members of the company’s new Global Public Policy and Safety Advisory Board.
