Lime extends “Ride to Recovery” initiative, offering free rides to support critical “Month of Action” vaccination effort

With summer on the horizon and COVID restrictions being pulled back across the U.S., we are extending our Ride to Recovery initiative through July 4th weekend to support President Biden’s goal of reaching a 70% vaccination rate for American adults. Our Ride to Recovery initiative, active in cities across the country, provides free scooter or bike rides to vaccine appointments. Through Ride to Recovery, our aim is to reduce transportation barriers to getting vaccinated, while providing a safe, sustainable and socially-distanced option to riders. Riders can access a promo code for two free 15-minute rides here, as well as information on vaccines and where to get one.

“Cities can’t get moving again until residents are healthy and vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime. “We’re honored to support the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic vaccination effort through free rides and sharing useful information about availability with our riders. Lime has a large user base in the target demographic of younger adults, crucial to achieving a 70 percent vaccination rate among American adults. We’re ready to do all we can to help cities get on the ride to recovery as we race toward July 4th. Together, we can do this.”

Our commitment to extend our Ride to Recovery initiative to July 4th is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s National Month of Action, aiming to achieve a 70% first-shot vaccination rate among US adults by July 4th. The National Month of Action mobilizes national organizations, local government leaders, community-based and faith-based partners, businesses, employers, social media influencers, celebrities, athletes, colleges, young people, and thousands of volunteers to achieve this pivotal goal. Additional information on the White House’s National Month of Action can be found here.

We’re also working with community organizations across the U.S. to help spread the word about the Ride to Recovery initiative, including sharing information about promo codes for free rides to get to and from vaccine appointments. In addition to providing free rides for those traveling to get vaccinated, we’ve also shifted operations in cities to deploy bikes and scooters near vaccination sites, ensuring they are readily available to those traveling to and from their vaccine appointments.

As part of the Ride to Recovery initiative, we’ll also be leveraging our platform to share public health information on COVID-19 vaccines, using email and in-app messages to help encourage riders to do their part by getting vaccinated, and helping cities get moving again. This includes information to help help communities get vaccinated, via wecandothis.hhs.gov; information about vaccines, including where residents can get one, via vaccines.gov; and an easy-to-use text line with local information about vaccines, accessed by texting a zip code to 438 829 (Spanish: 822 862).

As always, our socially-distant, open-air transportation options continue to serve as the ideal way to get around cities, helping to avoid traveling in confined spaces with others.
